Bangladesh Test skipper Mominul Haque said they can’t rush back to play as cricket as for the nature of the game.
Like all the other countries, the cricketing activities in Bangladesh have also been called off due to the life-threatening coronavirus pandemic.
But recently England, West Indies, South Africa and Sri Lanka players have been allowed by their respective governments to start individual and small group practice sessions with a view of returning to international cricket.
Mominul though shared different ideas regarding resuming cricket as he believes that cricket is a team sport with a lot of players having to contact each other while playing the game. So, starting the game too soon may also damage the previous days’ hardship.
“Cricket is a combined game, where there is an involvement of team boy, physio, doctor, umpire and other backdoor coaching staff, where one person’s chair will be used by another. Staying far away is absolutely impossible here. Allah forbid, if one of them is infected with the coronavirus, the whole team will be gone at risk,” Mominul Haque said.
“Now it’s to return to the field means to give up all the hardships of so many days. The fear that we have worked so long to save ourselves, to keep people safe, will have no value. The damage possibility is more than before,” Haque told a leading bangla newspaper .
The left-handed batsman said he is also worried about his skill and fitness losses for not being able to practice regularly due to the deadly novel coronavirus pandemic.
