Bangladesh’s cricketers are raising funds to donate for coronavirus affected people as 17 national contracted cricketers along with 10 others who received one month salary for playing against Zimbabwe at home decided to donate half of their one-month wages for the coronavirus affected people.
The 17 cricketers in the central contract will give 50 per cent of their monthly salary to the fund. 10 cricketers outside the contract who had played matches for the last three months will also donate 50% of their monthly salary.
Cricketers are expecting that a fund of Taka 31 Lakh will be raised through them but that will come down to TK 26 Lakh after tax deduction.
It was learnt cricketers are getting in touch with BCB president Nazmul Hasan so that they can donate the money somewhere as government is yet to open any official account to take money for the corona affected people that had literally turned down the world upside down.
‘’The whole world is devastated by the coronavirus. We have tried to aware people from our respective social platform. Now we have decided to donate half of our one month salary. We know this is very small but if everyone can make small contribution from their respective places it will eventually become big and help to fight it out during this crisis,’’ players were quoted in a statement.
Central contract player Mushfiqur Rahim will donate Taka three lakh
10 thousand, 50% of his monthly salary according to his grade six lakh 20 thousand.
As well as Bangladesh new ODI skipper Tamim will donate Taka three lakh 25 thousand, Liton Kumar Das Taka one lakh 37 thousand five hundred, Soumya Sarkar Taka one lakh 50 thousand and so on.
When a cricketer who plays an international match without being into the central contract, BCB pays him that month’s salary according to the grade he deserves.
For example, Masharafe bin Mortaza in not in the central contracts. But in March, he played international matches. So, this month he will get salary according to his grade which sums up Taka four lakh 25 thousands. From which he will give 50% to the fund Taka two lakh 12 thousand.
Players from all over the world are raising funds and donating to support people in this pandemic of coronavirus. Sri Lankan cricket Board are donating to their government, Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi donating ration to his people. Now Bangladesh cricketers are come forward to aid the people of Bangladesh.
